Hi all! Firstly, my apologies for putting this in English but my Danish is unfortunately non existent. My girlfriend and I will have the pleasure of visiting Copenhagen soon and have a tradition of trying to visit (and more importantly sample) the best sweet shops/candy stores/chocolate shops/bakeries in each new city we visit as a fun way to see the city. We'd love to hear any recommendations on where's best to visit. Mange tak!

Please use r/copenhagen for topics related specifically to Copenhagen.

Enjoy your stay in Denmark!

No worries mate. Be sure to check out Conditori La Glace in downtown Copenhagen. Its not cheap but well well worth it for a single visit. Probably our most famous conditori by a long shot. Feeds the king and stuff..

La Glace is massively overrated and over priced. There’s a number of bakeries making cakes more unique to Denmark and more interesting to foreigners than the bland cream cakes of La Glace.

Havent been there in 15 years, so you tell me. What is a better place for high end pastry in Copenhagen?

There are som many good bakeries now. Places like Hart and Andersen are some of the most famous and best.

La Glace perhaps has its place doing old school cream cakes and I don’t think they’ve changed one bit the past 50-100 years. Their signature cake - the “sports cake” - is still just whipped cream with crushed nougat.

I read that as sweat shops, I am now disappointed by the actual title.

bottom floor of Magasin has a few candy stores from Denmark. They sell in the famous Bulow chocolate liquorice balls, Wally and Whiz winegum (I love these), Almuegaarden hard candy, and Bagsværd Liquorice

I also say Soemods Bolcher in Nørregade. Mixing your own tin full of hard candy should be a must for you guys:

For bakeries with extraordinary good cakes and pastries i would recommend Hart, Juno and Andersen.

La Glace is a Copenhagen institution. It serves old school and very expensive, very heavy and rather bland cream cakes. I would prioritise other places.

sømod bolcer next to nørreport, if you are looking for something a little weirder, there is bonbonland, a carnival park where each ride has a candy.

then there is also danish or (wienerbrød as we call it) which you can buy in most bakeries

while at a baker you can also try and buy romkugler

hope you enjoy your trip
