Boss all the way when I was a kid playing guitar. Loved those things. My favs were the chorus and the flanger pedals.

Yeah Boss flanger is still my fave of all the flangers I've tried.... and I've tried a lot.
I built a clone of the HM-2 last fall. It absolutely rips.
Was it a kit or from schematics from scratch?
I got the PCB from pedalpcb.com then sourced the components mostly from Tayda Electronics.
Cool, cheers!!
I barely played guitar years ago, but this was my pawn shop pedal! It was awesome!
Thanks to death metal, people think of it onlyvas "the Swedish chainsaw" because of the absolute brutal sound that it makes when you dime all the controls. As you can see by my current settings, I like to keep it on the edge of breakup. With the guitar volume at 4, you get a nice warm overdriven cleans when playing soft, a nice buzzy edge when you play harder, then proper fuzzy distortion when you bring your pickup volume up.
The HM-2w sits in front of a Berhringer Chorus and a UAFX Lion with a Boss RV-200 after the Lion. That's the entire chain.
For leads, I am experimenting with having the Pack Rat and the HM-2w on at once. Early days though and I think the Lion does a better job than the Pack Rat. I just don't think I am a ProCo Rat sort of guy.
Love this one. Some tracks I made people swore there was a synth in there but it was just the HM-2 doing its thing.
The Waza version is a nice update too, in terms of noise gate etc.
My grandmother gave away most of my things without asking, when I moved away, including my original "Made in Japan" 1980's HM-2. I am very happy that Boss made this reissue.
Yeah mine “went missing” during one residence move or another. I like that the reissue has the option to switch between the original and updated modes.
Eyemaster is the only cheap clone I ever liked. Nobody seems to know/understand what made the thing popular. The boutique guys got it
