Hi all,
I am in the process of building my first ever home theater (woohoo!) and would like to seek some advice from this group.
I have a spare room with dimensions of 4 meters by 5.8 meters with a door opening on the short side. Please see my uploaded picture for plans.
I am wondering how to best orient my equipment and furniture. Right now I see two options:
Option A: this is as it is currently laid out where a sofa is pushed against the long wall and the TV is on the opposite end. My wife really likes this setup as it sits many people, but I worry given the sofa is up against the wall... there will be no room for rear speakers. Perhaps I can build a "ledge" behind the sofa that is connected to the wall, which then allows me room to put rear speakers? What do you think?
Option B is flipping the orientation of the equipment and furniture 90 degrees, where the screen is on the north side of the room (i'll remove the curtains) and we'll put a free standing sofa in the middle. This obviously would allow for rear speakers but my wife is very much against this given it limits the # of people. She is also against the possiblity of doing stadium seating / two sofas vertically arranged.
Could anyone give me some advice here? Is Option A workable with my ledge idea? Or are there other ways to make option A work without sacrificing sound immersion & quality?
Making option A work is likely easier than convincing my wife to do option B haha! Thank you everyone in advance for your help here!
