Conservatards going to deny reality all the way up until they die from it.

[–] [email protected] 51 points 1 year ago

Just like so many did with COVID

[–] [email protected] 48 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And then it will be someone else's fault.

[–] taladar 3 points 1 year ago

The most horrible thing about it is that it makes the political ideologies where some elites rule over the rest instead of allowing everyone a vote suddenly easier to understand even knowing how horrible those ended up in the past.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago

This was proven with Covid

Gutting the education system was a terrible idea.

[–] [email protected] 44 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It was a perfect success from the perspective of the people who instigated it in the 1980’s

[–] taladar 3 points 1 year ago

Shouldn't the older people be more educated if it was only gutted in the 1980s? My impression is that they are even less educated than the younger generations.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

How do you figure? We have millions of ignorant voters reliant on politicians to tell them how to feel. Without this, there would be no Republican Party.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Unfortunately, there probably would be. Hopefully it would be less popular, but some people just non-ironically think that way. Disturbing, but reality.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

It would be just as popular, or more, because it would be less radical.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago

Why? It created a nation of blithering idiots willing to threaten people with murder over daring to mention something they refuse to understand.

its working exactly as it was intended to.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

Only for the majority, not for those who had existing money and power. For those people it just solidified their positions in the ruling class.
No matter how short-sighted that is.

In a better world, the cops would have given a shit and tracked down the assholes threatening a TV meteorologist.

“It was ‘I am going to kill you’ written in a very deliberate way in a long letter and followed by obsessive emails,” said Gloninger. His critic demanded that he “go the hell back to where you came from DOUCHEBAG!!!” and demanded “what’s your home address, we conservative Iowans would like to give you an Iowan welcome you will never forget.” The emails attacked Gloninger for pushing a “liberal conspiracy theory on the weather”, calling climate change a “Biden hoax”.

They will too.

if you are rich, and connected.

They don't see the poors as anything more than peasant stock to get their jollies from, though.

[–] Kecessa 9 points 1 year ago

That person was given a small fine... That's the kind of shit that should land you in jail.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Unbelievable. I hope these terrorists are treated as such and removed from this country. They don’t belong here.

[–] [email protected] 30 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Remember back when conservatives called the left “unhinged”?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

You mean when they projected their evil on others, to make them the enemy?

yeah, I remember. They've been doing it in some form for decades.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 year ago

Conservatives may not believe in climate change, but climate change definitely believes in them, we're all fucked and these idiots are an anchor around our necks.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 year ago

As someone with family from Iowa, there really is a point we have to realize you can't fix stupid and do something about it before we find out Idiocracy was a documentary.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Take heart: People this stupid would probably make terrible assassins.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 year ago (1 children)

it's not hard to stalk someone enough to find their address and then beat the shit out of them. it doesn't take intelligence it just takes obsession. police (as well as anyone else) should take this seriously

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

It's very possibly a policeman writing these emails......

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Assassins, yes. Angry mob, on the other hand.. historically effective.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah, that's true.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago

Welcome to Iowa, a backwards shithole run by fascists. You know it's bad because Desantis said he would consider Reynolds for running mate. An endorsement like that speaks volumes.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Wait, oh, this post went through. I was going to post it and then gave up as it does not fully qualify as "news", oh well.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 year ago

I think it's news, but maybe not worldnews? Like an Iowa meteorologist getting death threats is notable, but I worry worldnews is going to end up just being American internal politics along with all the other news communities.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Please only post links to actual news sources, no tabloid sites, etc

You don't consider The Guardian an actual news source?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

It's a mouthpiece for the american bourgeois.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Who are they?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

If you think you're of average intelligence, there are at least 160 million americans that are dumber than you.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

I've gotten death threats and stalked before. I still am stalked. It's pretty weird. Definitely have PTSD from it. The whole ordeal has been pointless. Cops don't even care when I ask for help.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

So you guys want to kill him for telling the truth and not being delusional…… wtf has the world come to?

EDIT: Conservative people are fucking FUNNY 😂💀

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Bold of you to assume this is a new trend.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Bold of you to assume I care about what you’re saying.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hey I think they're basically supporting what you're saying with a kind of rueful sarcasm. As in "not only are you correct that the we're in a shitty state of things, but worse still it's been that way for a long time."

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Damn if so now I feel bad. Maybe I did take it out of context. Who knows?
