Hi guys. I just bought this beautiful LTO-8 drive beast (second-hand):

It is currently connected to my main server, which is in the basement. However, when I read the manual of that drive and several posts in this sub, I realized that this kind of device seems to be very sensitive to dust and it kind of needs purified air to reliably work without producing error (they even mention not putting it in a room with paper or printer).

Therefore, I highly suspect that placing it in my basement is really not the right place, as the air probably contains a certain amount of dust (well, it is a standard european building, so it is not dusty like an old haunted mansion of hollywood movies, but you get what I mean). And I do not want to place this thing in my apartment, as it is loud as hell while it is working (and writing a lto-8 tape takes like >12 hours).

So I was thnking of building a DIY "clean air" box where the drive could sit, inspired by the Corsi-Rosenthal thing with hvac filters and standard PC fans to help the air flow through it. I am pretty sure I already saw people posting photos of such things on reddit. What do you think of this idea? How did you do with your own LTO drive?
