So I mainly listen to metal music and it's subgenres, I'm sure there are like-minded people here and I'm wondering, are there efforts from a group of people or organization to preserve metal music, specially underground music (I doubt Iron Maiden's or Black Sabbath's discography will ever disappear)?
Sometimes it's very difficult to find certain material from a band, especially if it's something released in the 00's or earlier, I usually resort to Russian websites, torrents, etc to download certain music because it's nowhere to be found (band split up ages ago, no monetization interest from their members, etc). Sometimes I have luck, sometimes I don't.
It's very sad to think that in some years when the members of a band and their immediate family die and their fans who bought them merch die, probably their music will be completely forgotten and probably sitting in a landfill like it never existed, and that will happen in the era of data!
Wouldn't be cool if someone in 2400 say "let's discover new music, let me check this EP that this Portuguese band released in 1996" because a project like this exists? I'm a dreamer I guess lol
