I've been applying to graduate schools recently and I'm getting word back. One of them responded to me and said that I am 'an alternate on the waitlist', which at this point in the year means I have a near 0% chance of getting in. I was super bummed about it because this school was my top choice (I got in elsewhere though don't worry).
Now, my top choice school keeps sending me emails about applying to their graduate program, how good it is, and how it's the 'next step in your professional career'. You already declined me!! Don't tell me to apply! It's just salt in the wound honestly.
