I just acquired a Vollrath #8 deep dryer with lid, in fantastic condition, just needing to be stripped and reseasoned. I see these going anywhere from $140 to $290 online.

I got it for $40!!!

I've recently dove headfirst into cast iron restoration and have been getting a lot of local customers, and I am excited to share update photos with all of you soon.

Do you sell them on after? Seems a lot of iron to have!

People actually contact me with their pans that are not in working order and I will strip and reseason for them for a price. I also get people asking me to be on the lookout for various kinds of pans along the way which I can sell them. Finally I just find old pieces online for cheap and flip them for a profit. It's a great deal of fun!

Awesome find. I was really into it for a while but got extremely paranoid about lead being used in the pans.

I got a lead test kit off of Amazon, it was very highly rated

So the best method I found in my research is to use the same test twice. Once on the test subject, and then on something you know to contain lead. Well you wouldn't believe what I found at the antique mall...

The test turns this deep purple color when it comes in contact with lead. So here were my findings

Oh damn that really turns red, all my tests turned very brown so I wasn't completely sure if the test was working or not.

Brown means you're good! It'll turn a "Tyrian purple", as they describe it
