Discuss classic films (~1973 or earlier) that will hopefully bring more awareness of them as both entertainment as well as an art form.

I watched:

Gilda (1946)

Rita Hayworth stars in this semi-film noir. She does an amazing job, should've at least been up for an award. This was her defining film indeed. Well worth a watch.

Haven't seen it yet, how was it?

Incredible. The cost to make must’ve been enormous. The amount of extras is insane. So visually stunning. 4:11 long so very long. First half is Caesar & Cleopatra, 2nd is Antony & Cleopatra

Le Samouraï (1967). Really interesting movie which has apparently inspired a lot of more recent classics, most notably Jim Jarmusch's Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai. Never heard of it before I was randomly recommended a youtube video about it recently.
