Let's face it. Dude is just finding excuses left right and center. One time they said it was because "easy kernel modification could lead to cheating" this time it's because of "staff shortage" and next time it's because the planets aren't aligned.

When they announced EAC to be compatible with Linux they literally said " ... developers can activate anti-cheat support for Linux via Wine or Proton with just a few clicks in the Epic Online Services Developer Portal." (Source) and they know that the Linux community would likely tinker their way to get it working if they were to allow Wine/Proton on EAC...

iirc Fortnite uses EAC and BattlEye. Both of those ACs do work on the Steam Deck, they just choose not to whitelist it

2 days later: Steam has monopoly on Deck devices. We're going to file a case.

Employee layoffs have nothing to do with the work a company has/intends to do.

A great video by Moon Channel, explains this and other things, about how the layoffs are 100% performative, to appease investors, in a literally manufactured hype cycle.

I personally think that the same goes for ~~100%~~ 150% of all public statements these companies and their leaders make.

They don't make sense, because they don't have to. They're not meant for you.

This is off topic, but threatening the livelihood of hundreds of people to jerk off some investor douches who don’t give a shit about the actual medium is peak sociopathic capitalism.

"sociopathic capitalism" is a bit pleonastic

They mean programmers that will work for $7.25/hr.

Yeah fuck him and fuck Epic

From what I heard there's just a toggle allowProton that's set to false, but that's wonky Info I have there. However, tim Fortnite said that Linux is like Canada

He has a girlfriend that goes to a school there?

It freezes your bank account if it doesn't agree with you politically?

Think of the shareholders

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 year ago

No no they meant programmers working for free…

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago

Why would capitalism do this to me?

If Valve was run like any other company they would just shit out a Fortnite clone and then slamfire 30% of the employees, but Valve doesn't have the shareholder obligations that Epic has.

I'm in no rush to play Fortnite and its really not because of Epic's attitude, it doesn't help, but i'm not their audience.
