It's everywhere. From images, to videos, to Tiktoks, to adverts ... I'm over saturated with opinions, replays, player ratings, hyperbole and the like.

There's only so much you can take.

Example 1. The Newcastle goal vervus Arsenal. Never ending discussions on the decision. The hyperbolic nature of the punditry. The uneven opinions of the same people.

Example 2. Handball against Newcastle. Hundreds of videos all moaning, complaining over and over again. The same pundits complaining and restarting their opinion.

And now the new one - the ref not giving Man City an advantage in the Tottenham game. It starts all over again. The videos, the complaining, the shouting Tiktoks...

I just don't care anymore.

Rational discussions are gone, replaced with hyperbole and drama.

It's too much. I can't watch any football related content anymore.

The only thing to do is to shut it all out but the commentary is just as bad.

Ha! this post is hyperbole, and everything you are moaning about so dramatically can be solved by literally not reading or listening to your phone. It’s got nothing to do with the football on the pitch or the game itself. Get a grip.

I watch the matches and the post game coverage on TV. I will check out a Reddit post if it catches my eye.

Everything else can fuck off. Especially TikTok.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I don’t think anyone’s gonna miss you bud but You’re constantly on Reddit commenting on football posts maybe stop doing that

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Yep that’s because they love the drama rather than try just understanding more teams and talk about more players they all steal a living tbh

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Just watch the games and don’t get on social media if you follow a lot of football related accounts that do that stuff that your describing. Including this subreddit tbh, sometimes I just watch the match and look at my FotMob app to check scores and that’s it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Just avoid the opinions man. I as a standard tend to block channels posting “reaction” videos when they get recommended. I really don’t get why anyone would give a damn how random twenty year old Tommy from Tamworth feels about a match. Ex professional, I might give it a bit more time.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

If you're disillusioned with the spectacle of the top level, then the beautiful thing about this sport is that there are so many other leagues and styles of football around the world.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Footballs boring it’s like a rollercoaster up down up down some teams just aren’t worth watching. Also you can sit there for 90 min and not a single goal I can’t be bothered with it

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

The current non-stop punditry is designed to hyperbolise everything to keep people engaged with the "product" and arguing about it ad infinitum keeps people on apps.

The Sky pundits for City-Spurs at half time were fine, then fine after the game, then there was an ad break, and when they came back they launched straight into an argument where they all took 3 positions and wouldn't back down from "theirs".

They always do it.

It's not about fans being fans, it's not about football, it's about keeping people engaged with advertising. Clicks and screen minutes.

I’m a United fan and obviously I’m falling out of love with the sport faster than most… but …

This whole American people doing clips on why Ten Hag’s philosophy isn’t as good as Arrigo Sacchi, when they are reading of a script and 5 months ago didn’t know what footie is…

The VAR over analysing EVERY ACTION after a goal is scored….

Players on RIDICULOUS contracts. I mean players always were on high money but nowadays certain footballers, like Mbappe or other top players can literally purchase a premier league club with their earnings…

It’s making players multi millionaires before they’re even starting their career trajectory….

The soul of football is dying.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Probably consuming too much junk media, just watch the matches.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Your taking in too much . Get off Twitter , reddit and the internet in general . Just watch football games and don't watch all of rhe games on a weekend . Have a team and follow them and just slightly update yourself with highlights that's it . No 4 hrs getting deep into it .

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Seems like it's not football that's your problem...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Try and limit where you watch and who you watch.

I used to be like this. Once I stopped watching certain outlets it got better.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Just watch the footy and that’s it. Problem solved.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Chelsea saga is way too much fun, tf you on about.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Someone just learned a new word.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

It's funny, I never see any of what you're so upset about.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Thank you for adding more noise you mention. Stick a fork in me as I’m done.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Who you follow?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I feel you but with things other than football lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Hyper bollocks. Lol.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

me too, but there is more to it. I also hate how juvenile football has become we have grown men saying "Varsenal, LiVARpool, Man Shitty, Chelsie, etc", the constant arguing about who is the G.O.A.T , the consistent and personal attacks on player.

Due to the nature of the times we live in everyone has an opinion and they can freely shout it as loud as they can into the vacuum of the internet.

I just want to watch football, have some fun and not feel like I'm some tribal warrior going to war. It is not that serious, it never should be.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Get off social media, mate.

Go watch your local on the weekend, or your prem team if you can afford it. Catch a few games on TV when you can, and watch MOTD Saturday night. Sorted.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

It's not football you dislike, it's people.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I mean you choose what you consume? Get off football Twitter and TikTok lol. Those sites are solely focused on engagement so that’s why everything is hyperbolic and crazy bait posts. Reddit can be a cesspool as well but at least most morons get down voted to the point you have to go out of your way to see their comments

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Turn it on or turn it off. You decide.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

The overwrought drama of the Prem does get fatiguing I have to say. That's part of what makes it great of course but also I get burnt out on it. I'm in Australia and taken to watching a bit more A League over the past few years because it's just got such a different vibe, much more laid back. Controversies happen but they don't seem to be held onto like grudges that never ever go away.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Social media is your problem, not football. Don’t watch the pundits, wait for motd on iplayer and just fast forward.

I don’t like idiots either, that’s why I don’t have twitter. Football is still class

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Lol. So you moaned in the biggest melt of a sub outside of r/soccer

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Good on you for coming to this revelation. Just keep it all in perspective and segment it in a relevant way to your life (which is more important than sport). Perhaps only watch games, (or just the recaps), don't obsess over results or players if it makes you unhappy or throws you into the churn of the 24-hour cycle of discussion, just let it go. You can still cheer and follow your team if you like, but make it a passive participation instead of engaging in the nonsense surrounding it. Unfortunately this can apply to most any hobby that isn't extremely insular, but at the same time a step back is always a good thing to me. Life is short and there is constant pressure from every angle to compete for our time (which translates into our money, the only motivation for any of it), and time is really all we have, so don't waste it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I watch highlights on YouTube, that's it as I'm usually in bed on a Saturday before motd finishes (the joys of being middle aged and boring).

I'd recommend the same. Cut out all the bs.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Dude just stop using social media it's fucking poison and I include reddit in this too.

Reddit is the only one I can stomach but some subreddits are too much for me.

Just change how you engage with it. Don’t tune in to the punditry. Maybe watch games on mute (but then you don’t get the crowd).

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

WATCH IT

WATCH THE FOOTBALL

IT WILL NEVER BE DECIDED WHO HAS WON THE FOOTBALL

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Ditch the Premier League, the corruption-fuelled spending and the constant media nonsense, and get a season ticket at your local non-league club. You’ll have a great time, make new friends and never need to worry about VAR again

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I was a kid in the late 90s/early 00s and we had MoTD on a saturday, the back pages of a newspaper and (maybe) a weekly magazine.

Now it's 24/7 news channels, constant updates from clubs, players, managers, god knows how many different panel show/analysis type programs... A million different social media accounts repeating the same shite clickbait articles, a million different people saying stupid things they don't even believe because some attention for being an idiot I'd better than no attention at all.

And it's literally no better. Nothing has changed except how much media we consume.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

A guy with a TikTok complains about saturation. Monty Python at its finest.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Get off reddit for 1 year (I did) and the rest of the social media crap for ever. It is refreshing and now that I am back I am ready to switch off again.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Ok bye 👋.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Or just take some time off Reddit. Go back to just enjoying watching the games and keeping discussions about it with friends and family

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I agree with you to a certain extent - but at the end of the day there are just too many pundits constantly giving their opinions all over the TV. When I was a kid (70’s / 80’s) we had Match of the Day with Jimmy Hill on BBC and the Saint and Greavsy show on ITV - that was it as far as I can remember. And there wasn’t the endless talk about tactics and playing styles that dominates today - you just watched a game and enjoyed it, without trying to break it down and endlessly analyse it - I find it all a bit tiring, tbh.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

You can get your soul crushed in Championship where it’s invisible to the media and social media other than club supporters and local news. No VAR to complain about. All the refs are poor. The league is so inconsistent that most of the league is a month of good form away from promotion playoffs and a month of poor form from worrying about relegation.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I'm in America and I feel the same way about our version of football. It's so in your face it's annoying.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Yet you came onto a platform that promotes these actions/reactions to discuss the topic??? Odd choice.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

“I can't watch any football related content anymore.“

There’s your solution.

How about instead of giving up football, just give up social media outlets?? They seem to be damaging the things you enjoy.

Watch football games but fuck the pre and post build up, fuck football related youtube videos, twitter and tiktok.. actually just fuck tiktok off altogether.

Surprised that's what annoys you... Not the hundreds of videos mentioning football and the comment section is just filled with "Messi Messi Messi..."

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Grow a pair pussy cat. Just stop scrolling my friend.
