Long-term goals and ambitions are great sources of motivation, but imo you also need to balance them with short-term ones. Sometimes, you just need a quick boost of motivation to finish that assignment on time or power through reading another chapter of your textbook. I was curious what everyone’s study motivations are for such immediate tasks.
I’ll share some of mine:
- Certain songs from the soundtrack for Steins;Gate, an anime with some brilliant college students/“scientists” (makes me feel like a scientists 🧑🔬)
- ‘Temporal Tower’, a track from the game Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time/Darkness (has this element of being larger-than-life and a sense of urgency concerning the nature of the universe)
- Certain songs by Heize, a k-pop artist, such as Underwater, Don’t Know You, and You, Clouds, Rain (I have no idea why lol)
- Alex from Modern Family used to be a motivator (something about her always drowning in work romanticized the idea of over-working for me; or just the studying aesthetic in general
- Lifestyle reality tv, such as Bling Empire, Kardashians, Selling Sunset, etc (my guess is this stems from “work hard, play hard” mentality. Basically thinking “damn, I wanna work hard and be successful so I can be dumb and spoil myself” lol)
