Is there an app (Foss preferably) that's good for podcasts? So far I use Spotify but it's ass backwards with playlists. I downloaded podverse but I can't find any of the three podcasts I listen to on Spotify.

I also recommend AntennaPod, I use it daily and it works great for a FOSS app. I've always found any podcast I've looked for, I'm not sure how the search engine works, but it works great.

It uses iTunes for search.

Thanks. How does that work though? iTunes points it to the RSS feed of the individual results?

And do you know if there are any privacy risks associated with depending on iTunes?

I am not saying it has privacy risks for depending on iTunes. I was just stating that it uses iTunes. There's nothing with that. I use Antenna Pod myself btw.

Yeah I wasn't majorly worried, just checking.

AntennaPod for Android available through FDroid is pretty good if you're after Foss.

Personall, for me the best podcast app os Pocket cast, multi-platform and web browser option.

I also use AntennaPod currently, but there some I tried before:

I went with Antennapod and it seems good so far. It couldn't find one of the podcasts I liked by name, but when I searched for category it showed up. The rest were all found. Thank you all.

On android Antennapod if you want open source, podcast addict if you want total control. The latter has settings/options for everything (when to download what, fine tuneable playlists, etc.), but is not what I would call user friendly.

Not FOSS but I like Pocket Casts, I needed one with a good queue feature because procrastination, and this one I liked the most.

Might be of interest - pocketcast increasing pricing by like 3x.

Oh damn, thanks for the heads-up, good thing I don't pay for it... So I'm good to go yet...unless they begin to butcher free version like Evernote and IFTTT did.

I used this for a while, but it's not FOSS and paywalls desktop/web apps. The paywall is also stupidly outpriced.

I switched to open instance of antennapod + nextcloud gpodder sync

Antenna is the one you can bookmark a certain part of the podcast isn't it? Awesome app!

I use pocket casts. Has worked well for me for last several years.

Sorry realize now you wanted open source.

Pocketcasts is open source

https://github.com/Automattic/pocket-casts-android

It just isn't free (although might be able to get premium features if you build from source not 100% sure on that one)
