I have recently decided to quit my very! toxic corporate job and will be unemployed since 1st of May. The job has burned me out completely, I worked in middle management and just need a break to recover from the stress. I know its possible to be on stress sick leave even though I will be on A-kasse. What is your advice? Should I visit the doctor while I am still employed, or is it enough to go there in May, when unemployed? I am able to push through until I leave, but I am sure as hell I won’t have the motivation to start a new job right away, since I am stressed and burned out.

Is it okay to tell that to my doctor? I never mentioned it to my doctor before, that I am stressed and struggling mentally.

What I now want is to get a few weeks off as a stress sick leave so I don’t have to apply for jobs when I am not mentally able to start a new job. Do you have experience with a case similar to mine, or do you know what is the procedure?

I do not want to end up on cash help, what I want is a few weeks of stress sick leave. If that is too complicated to get, I am also opened to being voluntarily unemployed and then just sign up to Akasse when I am ready

I think the time limit for sygedagpenge is something like 7 months, so if you think you only need a few weeks, then you don't need to worry.

Do reach out, though: physician, union, a-kasse.
