Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

I asked if people chose iPhone for the blue bubbles elsewhere a couple days ago, and while there was some good discourse on that post, the blue bubbles definitely also came up as a reason.

In my experience, when people find out my texts are green, they oftentimes would rather switch to a different platform altogether like Instagram or just not text at all.

Is this actually a deal-breaker in friendships out there?

My best friend has an iPhone. I'm a Samsung girl. Any time her phone doesn't let her do something I poke fun at the iPhone, but in reality they are just different versions of the same thing. The only real reason I have to complain is the price tag. I'm not paying double for an item that does the same thing as the cheaper version. That's just stupid financially. It's not a better product because it costs more. I can live without whatever it offers that android doesn't.

I can live without whatever it offers that android doesn't.

But t that's the thing, isn't it? iPhones don't offer anything that Android doesn't except maybe blue Text bubbles.

Obviously I'm not an Apple expert but I think someone also mentioned it takes better pictures? I can't disagree because I'm awful at taking pictures anyway so it wouldn't make a difference.

Picture quality is a constant arms race and both sides have been better than the other at some point. It also varies from phone to phone, my fold3 takes much better pictures than my sisters iPhone SE2, but is comparible with my dad's 13 max. The main reason that people think iPhones take better pictures though is because when you text a picture from an android to an iPhone it ends up horribly compressed, because apple doesn't support RCS, but a picture sent from iphone to iphone or android to android will look a lot better

In what world are Samsung’s half the price for comparable features? The S23+ is on par with features and almost the exact same starting price. Sure, you can get much cheaper Samsungs. But you can also get a second hand iPhone for a good price bc they get updates for so long.

I didn't say comparable features. I said same thing, which is a more generalized term. For things I would use, samsung is cheaper. I also don't have an S23+ because the phone I have is fine.

My wants and needs are not yours, so we would not require the same item. But if you have no reason to need an iPhone, why pay the price for it? That is what I'm really asking here. Communication is difficult for me and asking direct questions is apparently rude, so I end up saying the wrong things. Apologies.

I upgraded from an iPhone 8 to a 13 Pro. I’m into amateur photography and the amount I can do with my phone now, that I don’t have to grab my camera for, makes it worth it to me. Apple does definitely have an issue with making lower end phones that are affordable though. But for me, I get a flagship every 4-5 years and that suits me. I can’t fathom people that upgrade a phone this expensive every year or two.

Edit: Also, thank you for the apology. I did get a bit heated in my first reply so I’m sorry as well.
