So one person decided they ultimately identified with their gender assigned at birth instead of what they were transitioning into. This happens all the time as people figure out what gender they identify with.

You would see this in sexuality as well but it's not as visible as changing gender presentation.

Transgender people have existed forever. Now that there's more information and acceptance you're going to see more people experimenting with gender, expression, etc.

This sounds like 1 person blaming a social media group for their decision. If a peer group pressures you into experimenting with being transgender, you're going to figure out if that's for you pretty darn quick.
