Larger cities with more probability of having encountered the odd (odd here as in few*) turban wearing sikh and the younger generation in general will likely understand you are sikh. If you go more rural on your journey be prepared that people think you are hindu. It's not that they want to offend you (if you take offence of that) but simply that many don't know better. I am late 40's and I am certain I believed throughout primary school that turban=hindu. I'm not even sure we learned about sikhs at all 🤦‍♂️

Our education on foreign cultures and religions has improved, so the younger the crowd the better they'll recognize you - I'm guessing from your post you aren't the type to get too easily offended, but it's better to know - and know why - some might "mislabel" you before hand.
