Hey guys,

I am a Sikh Indian guy and I was planning to travel to the happiest part of the world with my parents. We are Sikhs and we wear a turban on our head, Is Denmark safe for a vacation for us? I plan on enjoying the Copenhagen nightlife and am worried weather my look with a turban will be safe or not even at night at clubs and bars And along with Copenhagen which other part of Denmark would you suggest is a definite must visit.

Thank you, Cheers

You won’t have a problem entering bars, but probably your turban won’t fit the dress code for most clubs. So wouldn’t count on getting in any clubs.

And racism and discrimination exist everywhere. But my theory is that it will be less during the day and more during nighttime in the weekends when people have been drinking. But shouldn’t result in anything worse than a few verbal insults.. not violence or anything dangerous.

So to sum up: Welcome to Denmark

If you are generally acting well you wont get any verbal insults.. I have never gotten a verbal insult unless I asked for it.. I highly doubt anyone would just walk up and insult you for wearing a turban in Denmark

That's already extreme enough racism for a civilised country (as well as it being criminal). I don't think this would happen unless the person was both an utter moron and intoxicated.

It would be illegal to not allow them into clubs with a turban.

Yes, but the punishment, even if the burden of proof can be lifted, is a joke.

At least places like that might fear damage to their reputation. Or you'd hope so...

I think it's the other way around. They worry that they'll get a reputation for letting in too many boys and men with the "wrong" skin colour.

You're more cynical than me. I hope racism isn't that widespread particularly in Copenhagen as opposed to somewhere in the countryside.

That's where public shaming comes in handy.
