Why? Didn't you read what Iran said? They said if we strike in Iran, they strike an asset in the Middle East. That is saying If you hit me, I'll break one of your toys because I'm afraid to face you directly. After all Iran's bravado and muscle flexing, they are freaking cowards.

Because unlike your power fantasies of the big strong US in the real world people get hurt when countries get into wars or even smaller conflicts, even if they are not an existential threat to both countries.
