Now, I'm all for a Socialist utopia, but that guy did NOT do it right.

That's one theory at least. The entire issue with the concept is precisely that people take Marxist-Leninist philosophy as dogma, rather than just a specific data point in a much broader modernist political history. There are many brands of socialism which reject this thinking and hold that autocracy is not a way to liberate anyone. It's just that leftist spaces on the internet tend to be hostile to this idea because it denies them the edgy fan service they crave.
You don't understand the term. The dictatorship of the proletariat is democratic. The reason Marx used that particular term is that in his time, he felt that the bourgeois were the only ones being represented, and by forcing actual democracy, the proletariat would finally have their needs met, which would feel like a dictatorship to the bourgeois.
