I think you got this mixed up, they want trump to not have immunity:

I think he was referring to the general republican base / extremist leaders of that base, not the specific Republicans mentioned in the article. This is by far not the most extreme example of cognitive dissonance I've seen from the former.

This article exists because it's unusual for a Republican to say anything like this. Ya know -- "news"?
