in the end however that "shit tier" company is one of the only ones that not only allows modding but encourages it and provides tools for it.
It benefits them of course but the vast majority of AAA games don't allow for modding and some even go after the modders and threaten legal actions.
Starfield and especially Fallout 76 are bad, but that doesn't retroactivley make their past games worse.
I think it's less that the two most recent shitfests have detracted from earlier releases and more that people are finally realising how bad the earlier games really were now that the good spirits have soured. They're finally seeing how incompetent Bethesda have been all along.
