What does legislation have to do with what somebody's politics are? The left, as always, is completely disorganized and independent so whatever might get passed cannot be agreed upon. If the right has done anything right it's their ability to actually band together.

What does legislation have to do with what somebody's politics are?

When you’re talking about a political party, it’s helpful to look at the actions and policies, since that’s what the party leadership is really supporting. All politicians talk a big game, but actions speak louder than words.

And when taking about a political party, it’s easy to focus on something that someone like AOC says, but the actual party doesn’t share her views. For example, Illian Omar may say that we shouldn’t give Israel aid if they are killing civilians in Gaza but that isn’t a policy that the Democrats would ever support. One member saying something doesn’t represent the party as a whole.

The left, as always, is completely disorganized and independent so whatever might get passed cannot be agreed upon.

FWIW, the Democrats are to the left of the Republicans but they are not “the left”. There are a lot of Americans who hold views much farther to the left than anything in the Democratic platform. Just look at polling around weed. A majority of Americans support legalization but no federal policy has been passed or even been made part of a party platform. And on the state level, most states with legalization only got it by referendum , the people basically forcing the politicians and parties to actually do what the people want.
