So in the summer Onana vs Vicario debate. Many called me stupid for saying spurs got a good deal and the better goalkeeper. Whilst Onana is a fraud.
Not a bad prediction after another error night for the United man.
That was like their entire window lol. United fans were heavy on the copium to think any of their summer transfers were going to be game changers. More like a bunch of panic buys when they couldn’t get their first preference.
There were a few in the Arsenal fan base still moaning about how good Onana was in the summer and the mistake we made not signing him instead of Ramsdale.
The United team are just weird. So many talented players and a toxic culture. Too many lazy players down the spine to be successful. Almost feel sorry for them - I don’t at all though haha
I believe Onana would cook with us. If you put Ramsdale in that Utd team, he would look as bad. Just like how Raya distribution makes our build up smoother, Onana could even do better and we would look more controlled in position. But Onana's goalkeeping thou, that's another story.
But this goes into the same argument I was having in the summer.
Is his distribution really that good? He has great moments but the key of the goalkeeping role is to ultimately avoid us conceding and be the last line of defence. On that requirement, I’d never have Onana and it’s why in the summer I said Vicario is the star signing from seria a in position and not Onana.
I truly rate his distribution esp when pressed. You can check on youtube. Up there with Ederson and Alison. There is a reason we don't press vs Utd. He can easily beat attackers' press and find the pass. Our goal keepers would panic.
I also get your point. It's valid. He's pants at saving. To me it's a preference. With the way we are playing, we control most of the game and barely faces any shots. Having him would make our transition from the back faster.
