I know most of the Bethesda RPGs have massive mod support, and there's games like Minecraft that have more mods than anyone can imagine. I would consider those games pretty playable in their vanilla states. Would you say there are any games that were "saved" by modding? Or that are still kept alive by thriving modding communities? What are some of your favorite mods?

I'm planning another playthrough of Dragon Age, what mods do you recommend for them?

Ooof! Get ready...

I got these from NexusMods (definitely recommend checking it out, there's some awesome modders there) years ago, and keep them in a folder, just in case. Some of the file names are confusing and some zips don't have a readme that explains what the mod does, so I'm skipping those.

  • Advanced Party
  • Advanced Tactics
  • Ancient Elven Boots Fix (w/options)
  • Console font fix (if you do console commands)
  • Better Dwarf Model
  • Better Memory Band
  • Boost experience file (to replace creature_core)
  • CC Extra Tints and Tones
  • Character Respec Mod
  • Critical Hit Chance Fix
  • DAO Mod Manager
  • Find Vitals Fix
  • Expanded Inventory
  • Lock Bash (A MUST!)
  • Lord Spartan Full Stubble
  • Monetary Gain Patch (w/options)
  • More Hairstyles
  • No Follower Autolevel
  • No Starting Abilities
  • Of Noble Cast
  • PHUnlockSpecials
  • Plus Healing Received Fix
  • PTs Vibrant Colors
  • Skip the Fade
  • Skip Ostagar
  • Unlock 25 Tactics Slots Extended
  • GT Core Rules Fixpack (you get to pick what to use)

Edit: to be clear, I generally play male dwarfs or male humans, so the mods (especially cosmetics) are for that sort of gameplay.

Oh damn thanks! It was.. difficult to play before, hopefully these help quite a bit!

Also I love your username

I think they will. A lot of them are QoL, or anti-grinding. Stuff like money and XP, which makes it for an easier playthrough, so you can get into the story a bit more. And the tactics mod, I loved it because you could really "program" your allies into complex behaviors. Some fix bugged items that never got officially fixed.

Ha! Thanks! Can you believe I didn't watch Seinfeld in the 90's? I was more into scifi, so I ignored it. I only watched it a year or two ago for the first time, and I really enjoyed it.

Not to get too personal but I had a very ~~christian~~ sheltered upbringing, so wasn't allowed to watch most of it. However now it's an amazing heyday for me. Watching all the old 90s shows for the first time and loving it all! Finishing Voyager, just finished Seinfeld, even lamer ones like Everybody Loves Raymond is good to throw on while I'm working. So much good TV I missed...

That's tough, I'm sorry. :/

Did you watch The X-Files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Tales From the Crypt? I still have to find time to watch Xena the Warrior Princess. For some reason, it's one thing I didn't watch in the 90's.

Working through X-files! Season 5, although I hear "Just stop around season 8" so a bit cautious. I'll have to start Buffy, only ever heard of Tales from the Crypt. Haven't done Xena either

The X-Files does get rough at some point. That's the thing with some old shows, they didn't have a cohesive story and it was very soapy at times.

Apparently that's my thing though! Guess I'll have to see how it goes...

Much luck in your watching endeavors! 😂

I'll be using this list as reference for my first playthrough.
