Why would anyone use this over Proton Mail or the gazillion alternatives if it treats people like shit.

Why is everybody trying to run into the next walled garden and recommends Protonmail ? E-Mail is great because its decentralized. Protons encryption only works among fellow Protonmail users, essentially breaking federation. Moreover the whole "Switch from regular mail to protonmail, because it is more secure", is nothing more then good marketing.
