Why would anyone use this over Proton Mail or the gazillion alternatives if it treats people like shit.

Been doing it for years. If you use the "tabs" mode where it breaks your emails up into primary/social/promotions/updates you get about 3 ads in the top 5-6 emails every time you switch tabs to the promotions tab. If you go back to the "all in 1" mode I believe you don't get the ads anymore, but now you get no categorization.
