Ten Hag doesn't want to play him or Maguire on the left side. Maguire's been in reasonable form so he's benched Varane. Getting dropped in big games for Evans prob hurts Varane.

But all that being said it's just speculation, not long ago we heard reliable stories saying Varane accepted Ten Hag's decisions to not play him, now the gutter stories saying he was fuming with it.
