The setup and that it routes over several randomly chosen nodes to self-contained sites reminds of Freenet. How does i2p compare to it?

Freenet has a kind of shared network storage for websites that i2p doesn't have. To host a site on i2p you need a server.

This has pros and cons. On freenet you can only have static websites.
