It is automation of the home, housework or household activity.

Home automation may include centralized control of lighting, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), appliances, security locks of gates and doors and other systems, to provide improved convenience, comfort, energy efficiency and security.

Warning: Working with electricity can result in injury, property damage, or even death if it is not done properly. Please keep this in mind while assisting others. If you are not sure about what you are doing, hire a licensed professional.

Is it a good idea to buy a cheap tablet on say Amazon to run my home automation apps? That way it’s always connected and ready to control? My phone has been glitchy and takes a bit to connect after I’ve been gone.

Amazon Fire HD 10 Plus tablet along with table charging dock. Bought both from Amazon for only $99.

I use Home Assistant for my home automation system. I side loaded the Google Play Store and have it running with fully kiosk. Display turns on based on motion detection. Turns off after no motion for 1 minute. I use several different dashboards, just depending on what I'd like to control. Works great!

That’s cool!! I was just looking at the fire tablet. I’m so new to this. I’ll look into home assist too.
