I've been using a 9700k since 2018 and am thinking about upgrading. I got a 3090 a bit ago and the 9700k is obviously bottlenecking what I can get out of it. Should I wait another year or upgrade soon?

No one knows what performance will be like on 15th gen since it'll use tiles and a different architecture -- the rumors are all over the place from what I've read. There might be some weird problems, or it might just be similar to what 14th gen offers today, but with "MOAR coarez" which should help with certain workloads, but probably not much for gaming.

The main benefit I can see from waiting would be that you can drop in 16th gen (probably) and hopefully, by then, whatever issues there may be with 15th gen would be worked out.
