Should I buy Dwarf Fortress? (lemmy.world)

I'm finally getting a little bored of my main game, Deep Rock Galactic. I've never touched DF, but it looks intriguing. I'm pretty average at sims. Will I be able to pick up and put down this game as needed? Also, how mouse heavy is it? I like to be able to do keyboard shortcuts whenever possible.

The closest thing to Dwarf Fortress would be rim-world, the game is very complex but can lead to some very fun situations!

having tried both, I personally prefer rimworld - it's not as in-depth by any means but it is a lot easier to play
