It shouldn't have been done. It was a referendum proposed by a party and prime minister that did not believe in the concept purely to gain more power.
You can just now say oh we should have still gotten the power but it should have been harder to make happen. You shit the bed to get yours, own up to it.

I remember at the time, the campaigning by the supposed remainders in the Tories was pretty shit, which was surprisingly given they convinced a lot of the working class to cut their own throats
