Too complicated and poor beginner documentation
Especially for things like built-in functions or nixpkgs functions, all those programming aspects of the Nix programming language. Noogle and the Nix Pills helped a little but not a whole lot.
Maybe you're talking from easy to use way. But Guix and Guile documentation are more cohesive in my experience, given that you're into GNU Emacs. But I don't think running GNU Guix System to be worth it.
