After Saturday’s assaults, the Russians were quick to dust off old plans to pull Israel’s borders back to where they were in 1967. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the creation of a Palestinian state was being thwarted by the “destructive policy” of the U.S., and you could almost hear the purr of satisfaction when a gloating former President Dmitry Medvedev dismissed the Hamas attacks as “an expected development” and turned his ire against the West.
