If GIMP made a transformation half as amazing as Blender has, it would actually kill Photoshop this time.
But damn it feels so dated right now, despite generally working great.
Krita has entered the chat. No going back to gimp.
I really like Krita for painting, but I’m much more efficient in GIMP for other tasks. Hard to pick which one is better all around in my case.
I don't mind the GIMP after a bit of customisation (one-window mode, disable several bits of UI, move toolbar to left), but I'm really scared the GTK3/4/5/x work might yield a UI that has more problems rather than less. All apps that went GTK2->GTK3 seem to have gotten worse.
GIMPs UX is so garbage you have to reinvent the entire interface. Sounds about right
