From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

First, where did OP say they were a Marxist?

Everything else you said was nonsense, of course, but even if it wasn't... they never once claimed to be a Marxist. That's just you making yourself angry.

The comparison to neo Nazis is laughable. Yes, striving toward a society where all people are equal is totally the same thing as fascism. Because everyone knows, fascism = that thing I don't like.

Actual communism doesn't have a dictator, and it's not authoritarian. What you're describing isn't Marxism. But I'm sure you know that already.

That is literally the point of his post

Everything else you said was nonsense, of course,

Zero arguments, zero explanations, zero evidence, just whining. Powerful rebuttal you got there

but even if it wasn’t… they never once claimed to be a Marxist

and yet he did.

Just because they strive for different utopias, that doesn't make them polar opposites. Marxism and Fascism are cousin ideologies. They share A LOT of characteristics. As a matter of fact, the founder of Fascism, Benito Mussolini, was a full blown Marxist. He was an avid socialist for a good chunk of his early political career. He was originally anti-war like most of the other socialists at the time (Marx and Engels were both notoriously pro-violence and pro-authoritarianism), but he changed his mind when he came to the realization that war could bring about the social climate necessary to overthrow European monarchies and establish socialism. When told the other socialists about his new pro-war stance, they kicked him out, and that's when he founded the Fascist ideology.

The idea that Fascism and Marxism were opposites was popularized by Soviet propaganda. The Soviet Union and Nazi Germany were allies for awhile, and they even invaded Poland together to start WWII. The Soviet Union didn't become one of the allies until Hitler betrayed Stalin and invaded them. During the war, the Soviet Union suffered a lot and the scars that were left behind has left the population bitter and resentful. The Soviet government exploited the fear and hatred the people had towards the Germans to their advantage. They started using Fascism as an excuse to abuse power. They claimed anything they didn't like as fascist to ban it and they accused anybody they didn't like as fascist to arrest them or take them out. At the same time, they started spreading propaganda narratives about how the good and noble communism saved the world from evil and vile fascism.

Because everyone knows, fascism = that thing I don’t like.

Ironic coming from you since you sound like someone who would actually think this way.

Actual communism doesn’t have a dictator, and it’s not authoritarian. What you’re describing isn’t Marxism. But I’m sure you know that already.

You sound like a 13 year old who has an elementary understanding of politics. Unless you get your information on ideologies from echo chambers like Lemmy, you should at the very least understand that communism and Marxism are not the same thing. Marxism is the political ideology crafted by Marx and co. It describes how a society should ideally function and how to get there. The ideology can be organized into three parts:

  1. Violent overthrow of capitalism to clean the slate and start a new societal fabric

  2. Dictatorship of the proletariat, aka, an authoritarian socialist state that rules with an iron fist on behalf of the workers to bring about the changes necessary to achieve communism

  3. Actually achieving communism

Communism is just the utopia in Marxism, it is a part of Marxism but it is not all of Marxism. Although a lot of people use these two terms interchangeably, they do refer to different things. Denying that Marxist elements are Marxist or Marxist states were Marxist because they aren't/weren't in line with the utopia described by Marx is mind numbingly stupid. Every ideology has a utopia, but utopias are just ideas of what a perfect world should look like. They're fantasies and they're not achievable. At the end of the day Marxism is an objectively and inherently violent, authoritarian, and oppress ideology. You can deny it all you want, but the reality is not going to change.
