In the cases of the 2 groups that I visited in their homes, both groups were live-together trios, and in both cases, the person inviting me over felt the need to explain the dynamic ahead of time so that seeing it in person didn't leave me confused during the house visit. It obviously would have been weird if I knew that A & B were a couple, but then I visit them in their house and see A & C being affectionate in front of A & B. I felt the explanation ahead of time was pretty necessary because I absolutely would have been confused AF seeing it in person without any advance understanding.
