Hi all, I thought it would be fun to talk about what running events people have coming up in the final months of the year.

I've got a local 10k race (Wilne 10K) coming up this Sunday. I've bought some new Kinvara 14 to race in, as I think my Triumph 20 are a bit heavy for a race day. I'm not fast but I do enjoy the occasional event. I did this run in 52:41 last year which I was really happy with. If I can be around that again I'll be chuffed, although I feel like I'm a bit slower than I was last year.

My other upcoming event is the Equinox 24 hour event around Belvoir Castle in the UK. It's a 10k lap relay event. Doing it with a buddy and I'm really looking forward to it. It's a beautiful course and the whole event has a great atmosphere. I did 4 laps last year, I'm hoping to slow down a little but do a couple more laps this year. The night time laps are the highlight, as I don't often run in the pitch black with a headtorch.

I'm not quite as heavy as you 86kg (189#), but I get relatively sweaty. My long runs are 90-120min, and half marathon is my preferred distance.

I think the extra weight does increase how much you sweat, but you can't stop it without going slower. I'd recommend a hat, to keep things out of your eyes.

I've never had chafing on my chest, but you could look at wearing a tighter shirt so there's less movement. If then shirt is already tight, try looser. Maybe a singlet could be a good option for you too.
