Evening all, This is a really tough post to write but following my post the other day I think the best course of action is to shut down Sync before the new API changes go live.

Coming over to Lemmy feels right, but this shit is so jank to use and I wish it was less incoherent and easier to make an account in order to comment.

We were so spoiled with using Sync. That app just has so much polish and functionality. Here's to hoping LJ will develope a similar app for Lemmy.

There will be challenges to overcome, but if Tafkars succeeds we may be able to patch+reuse most Reddit apps even if the devs drop support!

A decade of building and refining a piece of software will do that. I first bought Sync Pro in 2011, and watching it grow and mature over the years has been a real pleasure. And while I am certainly missing the polish and functionality, and am hopeful for the future of Lemmy apps, I do wonder how apps based on an ad-based revenue system will fit in on an open-source, ad-free platform.

I'm trying jerboa for Lemmy. Right now. It's old-fashioned but potentials there.

I'm on jeroba too- i'm sticking with it, lemmy is 100% worth supporting and what is happening with reddit is just ridiculous, I won't be giving them or their sponsors any more of my clicks.

True, but it got much better with time, and people are working on creating API translator so all apps for reddit can easily add support for lemmy.

Most of developers of those apps are thinking about making their apps work with lemmy directly.

I also think that this influx of users will be motivating for developers and help them find all the rough edges.
