Yeah. I actually gave it another go recently, and it's not quite as horrible about nickle and diming you as it was.

They don't nickle and dime in the usual way, they have their cosmetic store sure. The real problem is they overvalue the content they add on top of it being FOMO too. But I think Destiny fans will just buy literally anything at this point, so from a purely business standpoint, can you blame Bungie?

That was my biggest issue with it- the FOMO, but it's not nearly as bad as it was. At least it doesn't seem like it. Maybe they'll still prove me wrong. I've only been playing again for a month or so.

But I stopped playing around Shadowkeep, and I got everything since (so I think four or five expansions) for like $35. Which is a solid value considering I mostly just wanted to play the campaigns, and do some funny builds.

I was extremely active on it until lightfall.

The way they added story "filler", the nonsensical scenario, the fomo/mandatory grind as well as the "you have to pay for everything" finally pushed me over the edge of my rabbid "I need to play" and completionist tendency. It was the last straw.

I'm gland I left because it's when shit started e to hit the fan:

  • they started to make you pay for a lot of thing that was previously included in the expansions (dungeons, raid,...).
  • They started to fire their (highly talented) staff en masse.
  • FOMO was getting out of control indeed.
  • You could feel the greed out of most of the decisions.
  • Vaulting content (why???)

Shame because

  • it was of the best shooting/power gameplay out there. The art and design was incredibly.
  • The lore was deepd and with a lot of "hidden" link darksoul style (even if it'd be easy to argue it was just obscure and writer had no idea what they were doing)
  • The sci/fantasy mix was working very well and for me is still unique so far.

I might give it a go again, but it'll not be the same without my old clan.

I loved 1. I didn't like 2 when it was first released, but after a while it grew on me. I'd like to go back and play the expansions I never got to, but the 3rd guy in our group died and it just wouldn't feel right to play without him.
