I'm old, so all I know is what I read and I don't know how much of that is scaremongering

Job market = ass Housing market = ass

I applied to over 300 positions before I found my current position. I have a STEM degree.

To afford a house today if you don’t want to live in a crack den it will take at least 200k on the low end.

The world has been designed to keep us perpetually in debt. I’m lucky I’m very reserved and have been able to fight against this somewhat.

Is stem not worth what it was? It's got a reputation for being one that gets you places

Everyone else being pressured to get the same STEM degrees, along with older professionals staying in the workforce longer, together with rampant outsourcing, leads to a very competitive market.

Ahhhh of course. Parents etc advice is often wildly out of date. I'm part of the generation that was told "just do any degree and you'll get a job!" Which was totally outdated bullshit

Oh don't worry we were still hearing that well into the 90s and early 2000s. It hasn't been true since the 80s but every single parent and teacher I ever interacted with all said that.
