Humans are members of the great ape family, and apes are a specific type of monkey, making our hands literal monkey paws.

Apes are not monkeys. Apes & Monkeys are both Primates. Humans are part of the Great Apes. Monkeys have tails, Apes do not.

Apes are monkeys.

Macaques, colobus monkeys, langurs, and other Old World monkeys are much more closely related to humans than to howler monkeys, marmosets, capuchins, and other New World monkeys.
