I assume NATO members vote on allowing new members? Does the US have some kind of “supermajority” vote or “veto” power which could be used to block this?
NATO membership has to be approved unanimously by all members. That's also the reason Turkey and Hungary managed to block Finland and Sweden from joining for months. I imagine a similar shitshow will happen once the talks with Ukraine are on.
