Is this community thought of as an alternative to [email protected] (too big) and [email protected] (too authoritarian)?

I think [email protected] is indeed made to be more news oriented than the other existing Fediverse communities, so in that sense I think they can co-exist well. Piefed users don't mind anyway, we have feeds. ;)

@[email protected] created and moderates [email protected] by the way, I don't really have much to do with it. :)

Yes, that's the idea!
