I honestly don't know much about the case itself, but I'm very curious to hear from UKers about how it's being perceived by the public. Is it being turned into an attack on any current policy?
What I do know, and why I'm curious about potential ulterior political motives behind the case, is that one of Letby's biggest defenders is conservative member of Parliament and former Brexit Secretary David Davis.
Davis is also the father-in-law of Michael Kratsios, Trump's Science Advisor nominee and Director of Office of Science and Technology Policy. Kratsios is also a former employee of Peter Theil, and is focused on AI policy.
Given the UK-US refusal to join other countries signing an AI declaration, (which included agreeing to join other countries in defending against a cyber attack by another nation like oh idk...Russia), I find the connection between Davis and Kratsios very suspicious. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c8edn0n58gwo
I know not everything is a conspiracy, but in 2025 there sure seem to be a lot of them. It has become intentionally difficult to know what is pure coincidence vs. something we should probably all be paying attention to.
