Also how can the GOP see what happened with Luigi and then think that the richest man in the world can be made into an effective martyr? I swear these people are all bumbling fucking idiots.

Nobody has a good view of insurance. Views on Elon, and his companies, are far more mixed. So it isn't impossible. Even today there are a LOT of morons who basically see him as the messiah.
