I hated Art class as well until we got a photo project, arranging a scene and getting a nice picture is something I can do. But drawing or painting was never for me, unless it's a technical drawing my brain just shuts down. I can easily come up with a technical solution, draw the template or 3d model and make it. But having to create something out of nothing that has no intrinsic purpose just doesn't do it for me.
I never had photography, because that was iirc in 11th grade and I only had it until 9th grade. I also still suck at freehand drawing. Miniature painting is quite easy compared to this, because you only have to learn how to work with the colors and need a calm hand, but really drawing something is nothing I can do.
