Stories longer than 30 seconds broken? (lemmy.world)

Stories longer than 30 seconds say they will be "trimmed and sent as separate stories" but it does not do this and just posts the first 30 seconds of the video. It's been this way for me for a few months, are they working correctly for anyone? I use GrapheneOS without Play Services so I'm not sure if that is the issue or not.

😂 yeah I know the feature wasn't generally well received but I am quite fond of it - I get overwhelmed with trying to keep in touch with everyone I know so it's nice to be able to just post to everyone at once. I think of it as my own sort of ephemeral "blog" with much lower commitment. If people want to tune in and see what's going on in my life or what news is interesting to me, they can, and if they don't, I don't have views turned on so it doesn't really matter to me. It has also gotten more people I know to download Signal because when they ask if I have social media, I say just Signal and then introduce them to the concept.

I stopped using any stories for years though because there was no privacy preserving option and I think Signal is still the only place that has E2EE stories.

There's at least two of us who use stories! I use it the same way, its a quick way to share what's going on without directly pinging people who may not be interested.
