Counterpart or Man In The High Castle are a bit closer to what you describe but I still don't feel we've gotten to the bottom of this.

Its not the Man in the High Castle. The Nazi storyline is told in "flashbacks" The main story takes place in a modern setting. Tbh, think it wasn't that popular. Last episode had the possibility for more seasons. It had an Alias feel to it, but production was more Helix.
Turns out that the wife is not that clueless, not really kidnapped, and are suddenly a part of the wider conspiracy plot
